Dartmoor based willow artist Katherine Miles loves to create life size  willow animals and watch the individual characters come alive as she weaves.  The deer family and a large Heron already at the estate are also her work. Commissioned by Kate Baylis the 11 ft T Rex is Katherine's largest work to date and is a magnificent example of willow weaving at it’s very best. The steel supporting frame was made by Katherine's partner Blacksmith Greg Abel and gives strength to the creature.  The Dinosaur has been woven onto this frame, the willow work creating the entire form and dimension of the animal.   The weaving has taken 3 weeks at Katherines’ study at Stone Lane Gardens.  The next challenge is to transport the giant form to her new home in the heart of the Canonteign Falls estate.  Find this huge T Rex in the Victorian Fern Garden where he will feel very much at home in this ancient landscape. Follwoing our summer name the dinosaur competition, our T Rex is called Ruby!
